Our Vision:  To increase understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal Culture by celebrating and showcasing the achievements of Aboriginal Artists and by encouraging and supporting new talent and emerging Artists. 

Our Mission:  To host a world class celebration of Aboriginal Arts, Artists and Culture that will strengthen community understanding, appreciation and pride. 

The City of Prince Albert and the Province of Saskatchewan is excited again this year to feature the Waniskâ: National Aboriginal Music & Arts Showcase on Thursday, October 8th, 2009 at the EA Rawlinson Performing Arts Centre.

Reception 6 pm:
Cocktails and hot hors d’ oeuvres starting at 6pm with performances by:

  • Mykal Gambull; acoustic guitar
  • Jason Chamakese; traditional flute player
  • Mitch Daigneault; acoustic guitar

On Stage entertainment 7 pm:

  • MC: Larissa Burnouf of Missinipi Broadcasting
  • Angus Joyrdian Jr.  A singer and songwriter from Lac La Croix First Nation, ON. Angus writes music for all people keeping his family and his community close to his heart when composing and writing his songs.
  • Plex: Singer/songwriter from Edmonton, Alberta. First solo album “brainstorm” released in April 2009 a culturally relevant and lyrically proficient album that challenges popular opinion.
  • Donny Parenteau 2008 SCMA; Fan’s Choice Entertainer of the Year, Aboriginal Artist of the year, Song of the year and Single of the year.

Honouring ceremony and performance 8:45 pm:

  • Honouring: Andrea Menard - debut CD, The Velvet Devil has earned her several nominations: Best Aboriginal Recording, Western Canadian Music Awards (2003), Best Female Artist, Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards (2003), Best Folk Album, Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards (2003).

Northern Spirits Concert: Saturday, October 10th, 2009
Aboriginal youth will create produce and perform Northern Spirits after participating in structured work-shops that will hone skills in set design, graphics, broadcasting, singing, instrument clinics, and audio-visual.  For more information on Northern Spirits go to www.nscrd.com.

Northern Lights Casino 11th Annual Pow Wow: October 9th - 12th, 2009
